Every year our chapter hosts programs throughout Rochester in order to service our fellow students and community. We host forums/discussions, social events, community service initiatives, and several other programs. Among these are our major programs and initiatives done annually.

WELCOME BACK BONANZA
Annual welcome back program held at the Rochester Institute of Technology. This event serves to bring the campus community together to experience performances, food, and lots of fun. Freshmen and incoming students are exposed to the large variety of clubs, Greek organizations, and other campus resources through tabling, interactive activities, and live music, dances, and Greek stepping/strolling. MISS BLACK & GOLD SCHOLARSHIP
PAGEANT & BALL Our annual scholarship pageant wherein college women of the local Rochester universities compete for an opportunity to win a scholarship and the prestige to be crowned Miss Black & Gold of the Mu Sigma chapter. Contestants are judged the criteria of poise, service to the community, leadership, confidence, and grace. The winner receives a scholarship and also advances to the district level of the pageant. We are proud to announce that the winner of our chapter pageant, Miss Caprecia Singleton went on to compete and win the district level and be crown Miss Black & Gold of New York State chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha. POLITICAL ACTION MONTH
Hosted in collaboration with the University of Rochester Black Students Union, Political Action Month is a series of programs throughout the month of November. These programs are a variety of politically themed-events catered to educating our peers and developing the political-savvy of our community. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. began our Voteless People Is A Hopeless People in the early 1920s as an initiative to increase the community's influence on our country. |

A week long of programs highlighting the ideals of Alpha. Beginning the week with a service event in the city or Rochester, events range from discussions, business panels, documentary viewings, public forums, women appreciation events, and many more. |
